The Guide To The Best Pregnancy Massages Around Australia In 2024

The Guide To The Best Pregnancy Massages Around Australia In 2023

Let's Talk About The Best Pregnancy Massages Near You!

Pregnancy clearly changes everything and sadly you cant just walk into a spa and get a massage if you're pregnant.  You need to do your research when booking pregnancy massages or treatments. Many spas don't take clients who are less than 13 weeks pregnant or they need to know well in advance about your pregnancy so they can tailor their room accordingly for your comfort. Finding a qualified ante-natal therapist in pregnancy massage is also important as you want to feel you are in the best hands so you can truly relax.

Why Are Pregnancy Massages Different To Normal Massages?

Massages during pregnancy differ to normal massages by the types of oils that are used, the technique and pressure points targeted. Not all women can lie flat on their back when pregnant either due to the vena cava vein. Some spas give you the option to sit up whilst others set the bed up with pillows so that you can lie on your side. If you're lucky a few spas have a massage table where there is a hole in the middle and you can finally lie down flat! We call this the donut bed 😉

Pregnancy Massages - Things To Remember!

Don’t assume that you can book in for everything; some treatments are only safe for after your first trimester. Do ensure that your therapist is qualified for specific pregnancy treatments; for example, some reflexology points can trigger pre-labour contractions. Make sure you maintain a safe temperature throughout your treatment, anything like a sauna that can raise your temp will be unsafe for you and your baby. And lastly, relax; this might be your last chance in a long while for a bit of you-time!
